A large BF in Europe was relinedin 2013/12  following an extended stoppage owing to market conditions. Eagle Refractories has been contracted to provide management of the refractories for the furnace, stoves, casthouse and gas system with a total budget in excess of EUR10M. This has included determination of work scope, specification of materials, enquiry preparation, order negotiation and management, inspection and supervision.  The furnace blew-in in early 2012 and has been producing at record levels since then.

The project timescale was particularly challenging, with design, procurement and construction phases all occurring simultaneously. Refractory construction was completed to time and early indications are that refractory performance is proceeding in line with expectations
 

A large BF in North America was experiencing high sidewall temperatures early in its campaign. Eagle Refractories was called in to advise on interpretation of the temperatures and recommend appropriate actions.

Eagle recommended changes to maintenance schedules and taphole clay. This has resulted in formation of a stable scab and reduced operating costs
 

A fine chemical company were experiencing variable refractory life of their process vessels, with several campaigns ended due to premature refractory failure and loss of containment. Eagle Refractories have worked with the company to revise the lining design and materials and to develop improved lining monitoring. This has stabilised refractory performance such that loss of containment due to refractory failure has been eliminated.
Eagle Refractories are working with the company to develop refractory performance further and have been asked to investigate the refractories in additional areas of the process to establish where improvements can be made.

A global leader in specialist refractory material production have worked with Eagle Refractories to assist in the development of new materials.

Eagle have advised on current customer requirements and future expectations. This has led to the specification of an ideal material to provide improved product performance.

This product entered the market in 2012.

Eagle Refractories provides training to personnel involved with refractories at all levels. We have taught modules in postgraduate degree courses, productiona and installation personnel and operators working with refractory lined process vessels.

We have developed a training course on refractories for oil refineries and have undertaken specialist training for safety personnel.
